SYNOPSIS ::
It's the 1st September 1666 - the eve of the Great Fire Of London.
London is back to normal after rats invaded the city the year before (1665) and thousands of people died of the Bubonic Plague.
The setting: historic "Queenhithe Market" by the River Thames.
A long spell of hot dry weather saw the medieval City of London 'tinder dry'.
The opening song "Another Nice Day" reflects this drought period which allowed a fire at Farriner's Bakery in aptly named 'Pudding Lane' to quickly get out of control and rage through London.
Starting around 2am on the 2nd September the Lord Mayor's initial response was "Pish - A woman may piss it out" !
This certainly was not the case. The fire eventually destroyed everything in its path over a four day period including ;
St Paul's Cathedral, 83 Churches, the King's Printing House with Shakespeare's original Manuscripts, The Royal Exchange, 10,000 houses, the Old Bailey,
- and the Rats that had plagued London !
From a surprise opening - to the dramatic song "Stop The Fire" this new Musical produced by GJW Productions will have you enthralled and spell-bound!
(Mother Shipton casts her spell) !!
