Dialogue, Music, Lyrics, written by Graeme John Webber. Auckland. New Zealand.
The conceptual idea came about in 2004 while staying with a friend in London.
I had an intention to write a musical based on some aspect I might see on my travels.
There were countless interesting subjects but the one that fired me up within days of returning to New Zealand was The Great Fire Of London 1666 - details of which appear on a plinth at the base of Sir Christopher Wren's "Monument".
An amazing and true story of huge dimensions.
This 'firestorm' virtually wiped out the medieval City of London over 4 days.
High profile identities took part in the ensuing drama : King Charles 2nd, his Brother; James Duke of York, Sir Christopher Wren, Samuel Pepys, John Evelyn, Sir Robert Bludworthy (Lord Mayor), and Mr & Mrs Farriner who owned the Bakery where the fire started!
Within a few days I had the bones of the storyline and a few ideas on musical content - it only took another 10 years to finally say "It's ready for production" !! Graeme John Webber :: Writer / Composer.
